Max Early

Pueblo of Laguna

Max Early (Pueblo of Laguna) is an Inaugural Fellow of Indigenous Nations Poets (IN-NA-PO). He obtained his M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the Institute of American Indian Arts and his B.A. in English from the University of New Mexico. His recent poems have appeared in Poets.Org/Academy of American Poets, Poetry Northwest, Poetry Magazine, Green Linden Press, and several other publications. Early’s first book is “Ears of Corn: Listen,” and his second manuscript will proceed to publication this summer. His clans are Tsina Hanu (Turkey People) and Kwa-ya Washch’ee (Child of the Bear). In addition to his literary accomplishments, Early is also an accomplished Laguna Pueblo potter and resides in the village of Paguate, New Mexico.
