Our dear friend, colleague, and mentor, Dr. William D. Lipe (“Bill”), touched the lives of many in the Crow Canyon community over the decades. Together with his family, Crow Canyon is holding a Celebration of Life to honor him on September 6th on our campus. You can find the invite and an opportunity to participate below.
Bill’s influence extended beyond academic achievements; he was a guiding light for students, colleagues, and the broader community. His passion for archaeology was matched by his dedication to education and outreach, ensuring that the stories of the past were accessible and meaningful to all. Through his efforts, Crow Canyon became a beacon of learning and respect for cultural heritage.
Bill’s legacy at Crow Canyon is one of profound impact and enduring inspiration. As a scholar, mentor, and advocate for the preservation of cultural heritage, Bill’s contributions shaped the field of archaeology and enriched the lives of countless individuals. His work at Crow Canyon exemplified his commitment to understanding and honoring the histories of Indigenous peoples, fostering collaboration, and advancing archaeological research.
As we remember Bill, we celebrate his remarkable contributions and the values he championed.
