Excavation Details for Excavation Units
In order by excavation unit number.
Excavation Unit
171
Location
1-x-1 meter grid unit 1402N 478E.
Southwest quarter of the site.
Located in the northeast quarter of the Great Kiva west midden (Nonstructure 108), approximately 8 m west of Structure 102.
Selection Criteria
Random. To sample Architectural Block 100 east midden Nonstructure 108.
Excavation Strategy
Strata subdivided into arbitrary levels. Strata were subdivided into 10-cm levels when applicable.
Unit Ends at
Undisturbed native sediment. Excavations were terminated at approximately 99.27 m. A 15 cm x 15 cm window was dug into the southeast corner of the unit to confirm sterility; the bottom of this window was at an elevation of 99.18 m.

Southwest quarter of the site.
Located in the northeast quarter of the Great Kiva west midden (Nonstructure 108), approximately 8 m west of Structure 102.
Selection Criteria
Random. To sample Architectural Block 100 west midden Nonstructure 109. Upon excavation, this unit appeared to contain remnants of the Great Kiva berm rather than midden deposits, and it was designated as part of Nonstructure 112 rather than Nonstructure 108.
Excavation Strategy
Strata subdivided into arbitrary levels. Strata were subdivided into arbitrary 10-cm levels when applicable.
Unit Ends at
Undisturbed native sediment. Excavations were terminated at approximately 99.35 m. A 50 cm x 50 cm window was dug into the northeast corner of the unit to confirm sterility; the bottom of this window was at an elevation of 99.23 m.
