Arbitrary Unit 116, noncultural

About this Nonstructure

No Surface
No Masonry

General Location

Central portion of the site.

Specific Location

Arbitrary 116 is north and adjacent to Structure 102.

Selection Criteria

2-x-2-m units were used to investigate a remote sensing anomaly.

Use

Arbitrary 116 is undisturbed native sediment.

Abandonment

Not Applicable

Postabandonment Process

Pitroom 125 excavated into Arbitrary 116. Nonstructure 115 is a midden deposit over Arbitrary 116. Arbitrary 114 was deposited over both through natural processes (wind and water).

Excavation Unit

210

Location

2-x-2 meter grid unit 1416N 488.5E.
Just east of the center of the site.
Located in the north-central portion of Block 100, approximately 5 m north of Structure 102 (the Great Kiva) and 3 m south of Structure 312.

Selection Criteria

Judgmental. This unit was selected to test an area where a remote sensing anomaly was present.

Excavation Strategy

Natural strata.

Unit Ends at

Undisturbed native sediment. Excavations were terminated at Surface 1 (the prehistoric ground surface) at an elevation of approximately 100.30 m. Fill continued into a pit room Structure 124; sterile sediment was encountered at an elevation of approximately 99.95 m.
