Nonstructure 108, not further specified
About this Nonstructure
General Location
Nonstructure 108 is located in the southwest portion of the site.
Specific Location
Nonstructure 108 underlies Arbitrary 107, and is southwest of Structure 111.
Selection Criteria
Nonstructure 108 is used to investigate a possible feature in the southwest portion of the site.
Use
Nonstructure 108 is a dark brown silty clay, with charcoal, calcium-carbonate, and sandstone inclusions. Secondary refuse was also present in the sediment. Nonstructure 108 represents a mixture of construction materials from the underlying feature, and midden materials, likely mixed around by mechanical activity.
Abandonment
Nonstructure 108 directly overlies Nonstructure 109, a use-surface, suggesting it was deposited immediately after decommissioning Nonstructure 109.
Postabandonment Process
Based on the pottery, Nonstructure 108 was deposited during the Pueblo II period. However, it is located directly adjacent to a two-track road, and likely was impacted by the road's construction. Natural forces (wind and water), and modern mechanical disturbance, contributed to Nonstructure 108's deposition.
