About this Nonstructure

Has Surface
No Masonry

General Location

Central portion of the site.

Specific Location

Arbitrary Unit 104 extends around the perimeter of the great kiva.

Selection Criteria

Selected to excavate extramural surface around the great kiva.

Use

Extramural surface to the north of the Great Kiva (Structure 102) and around Pit Room 124.

Abandonment

Not applicable.

Postabandonment Process

Geomorphological evidence suggests that this extramural area may have deflated below its original ground level impacting any evidence of associated activity.

Dating of Construction

A small thermal pit (Feature 1) was dated to A.D. 420 - 575 with AMS dating of a maize cupule.

Dating of Remodeling

Not applicable.

Dating of Abandonment

Not applicable.

Dating of Midden

Early graywares were found in association with this surface confirming that it is associated with the Basketmaker III occupation of the site.
