Arbitrary Unit 104 extends around the perimeter of the great kiva.

Selected to excavate extramural surface around the great kiva.
Use
Extramural surface to the north of the Great Kiva (Structure 102) and around Pit Room 124.

Not applicable.
Postabandonment Process
Geomorphological evidence suggests that this extramural area may have deflated below its original ground level impacting any evidence of associated activity.
Dating of Construction
A small thermal pit (Feature 1) was dated to A.D. 420 - 575 with AMS dating of a maize cupule.

Dating of Midden
Early graywares were found in association with this surface confirming that it is associated with the Basketmaker III occupation of the site.

Located in the north portion of Block 100, approximately 7 m north of Structure 101 and 3 m south of Structure 312.
Selection Criteria
Judgmental. This unit was selected to test an area where an anomaly was located during remote sensing survey.

Natural strata.
Unit Ends at
Undisturbed native sediment. Excavations were terminated on the prehistoric ground surface at approximately 100.32 m. Fill continued into Feature 1; undisturbed native sediment was encountered below this feature at an elevation of approximately 99.98 m.

Unit Ends at
Undisturbed native sediment. Excavations were terminated at Surface 1 (the prehistoric ground surface) at an elevation of approximately 100.30 m. Fill continued into a pit room Structure 124; sterile sediment was encountered at an elevation of approximately 99.95 m.
