Nonstructure 241, extramural surface
About this Nonstructure
General Location
South-central portion of the site.
Specific Location
Nonstructure 241 is about 8 m north of Structure 205-226.
Selection Criteria
Excavation units were used to investigate a remote-sensing anomaly.
Use
Nonstructure 241 is a use-surface with two pit features and an arcing set of postholes that may represent an ephemeral structure.
Abandonment
No flat-lying artifacts were observed on the surface of Nonstructure 241 and the construction deposit identified as Nonstructure 240 collapsed directly onto it.
Postabandonment Process
Nonstructure 238 and 240 were deposited by cultural means over Nonstructure 241; Arbitrary 219 was deposited through natural processes (wind and water) over Nonstructure 238, 240 and 241.
Dating of Construction
Based on an AMS date on corn from Feature 1, Nonstructure 241 was in use between A.D. 547 and 655.
Dating of Remodeling

Excavation Details for Excavation Units
In order by excavation unit number.
Excavation Unit
60
Location
1-x-3 meter grid unit, long axis oriented north-south 1384N 486E.
Southwest quarter of the site.
Located in the northwest quarter of Block 200, approximately 12 m north of Structure 205.
Selection Criteria
Judgmental. This unit was selected in order to test an area where a remote sensing anomaly was present.
Excavation Strategy
Strata subdivided into arbitrary levels. Strata were divided into arbitrary 25-cm levels when applicable.
Unit Ends at
Undisturbed native sediment. Excavation ended on the prehistoric ground surface (Nonstructure 241) at an elevation of approximately 99.30 m. Features 1-6 were dug into an upper use surface.
