Nonstructure 1.10-N, extramural surface

About this Nonstructure

Has Surface
No Masonry

General Location

Lower west side; base of talus slope near canyon bottom.

Specific Location

Lower half of Segment 5 (EU 36). Below Nonstructure 1.1-N and 1.8-N, rests near the base of Nonstructure 1.9-N; above Nonstructure 1.7-N.

Selection Criteria

Part of Nonstructure 1-N testing; see Nonstructure 1-N and associated EU for description and explanation of testing strategy.

Use

Ephermal surface in fill that is associated with the construction of a kiva retaining wall.

Abandonment

Covered by secondary refuse.

Postabandonment Process

Not applicable.

Dating of Construction

No artifacts or tree-ring dates. The stratigraphic position suggests that this surface was used early in the occupation of this area because it postdates most of a secondary refuse deposit (Nonstructure 1.9-N) and an extramural surface (Nonstructure 1.8-N).
