1-x-2-m unit judgmentally placed to test a masonry surface room, Structure 144.
Use
Nonstructure 175 is an extramural surface from which two features, a firepit (Feature 1) and a bell-shaped cist (Feature 2) were excavated in the Early Pueblo III period.
Abandonment
Nonstructure 175 was no longer used after the Early Pueblo III period when Nonstructure 189 refuse was deposited above it.
Postabandonment Process
Nonstructure 189 refuse covered this surface in the Early Pueblo III period.
Dating of Construction
Nonstructure 175 was used in the Late PII or Early PIII periods. It seem more likely that the surface was used in the Early Pueblo III period because a small amount of McElmo Black-on-white pottery was found in the fill. Nonstructure 159 deposits are located below this surface and dates to the Late Pueblo II period. Nonstructure 189 deposits are above this surface and dates to the Early Pueblo III period.
