Southwestern portion of the site.
Specific Location
Southeastern portion of Architectural Block 400; northeastern portion of Nonstructure 401; 1-x-1-m unit 432N 518E.
Selection Criteria
Eighth random 1-x-1-m unit randomly selected for excavation in Architectural Block 400 to sample midden deposits.
Use
Extramural surface composed of undisturbed native sediment from which a borrow pit (Feature 1) was excavated.
Abandonment
This surface was no longer used in the Late Pueblo III period when secondary refuse (Nonstructure 401) was deposited above Nonstructure 406.
Postabandonment Process
Secondary refuse (Nonstructure 401) was deposited above Nonstructure 406. Natural wind and water sediments covered Nonstructure 401 deposits.
Dating of Construction
Based on construction dates for surrounding architecture in Architectural Block 400 and on the midden deposits that covered this surface, it is inferred that Nonstructure 406 dates from the Pueblo III period.

Not applicable.
Dating of Abandonment
This surface was no longer used in the Late Pueblo III period when secondary refuse (Nonstructure 401) was deposited above Nonstructure 406.
