Fourth 1-x-1-m unit randomly selected for excavation in Nonstructure 601.
Use
Extramural surface composed of undisturbed native sediment from which a burial pit (Feature 1) was excavated for the interment of Feature 2, Human Remains Occurrence 4.
Abandonment
This surface was no longer used in the Early Pueblo III period when Human Remains Occurrence 4 was interred and Nonstructure 601 refuse was deposited over the remains.
Postabandonment Process
Secondary refuse (Nonstructure 601) was deposited above Nonstructure 606. Natural wind and water sediments covered Nonstructure 601 deposits.
Dating of Construction
Based on construction dates for surrounding architecture in Architectural Block 600 and on the midden deposits that covered this surface and filled in the burial pit (Feature 1), it is inferred that Nonstructure 606 dates from the Late Pueblo II to the Early Pueblo III period.
