Nonstructure 1102, extramural surface
About this Nonstructure
General Location
North part of the site.
Specific Location
Along the north wall of the rooomblock in Architectural Block 1100.
Selection Criteria
Surface was encountered during the excavations to expose a segment of the north wall of the adjacent roomblock.
Use
Outdoor use surface associated with the construction and occupation of Architectural Block 1100.
Abandonment
Surface abandoned as a result of abandonment of this architectural block.
Postabandonment Process
Surface covered with sediment and sparse artifacts that accumulated during occupation of the architectural block; collapsed wall material from the roomblock, and naturally-deposited sediments. Also, near modern ground surface there was abundant historic refuse, probably left by Western State College field school students in 1931.
Dating of Construction
Surface was not constructed, but is associated with the construction of the roomblock in this architectural block. No pottery was associated with this surface, but association of this surface with Structure 1104 indicates that it was used after A.D. 1150.
Dating of Abandonment
Use of surface probably ended when the architectural block was abandoned (Pueblo III).
