Selection Criteria
Surface was encountered during testing of a possible midden in this architectural block.
Use
Outdoor use surface into which an expedient firepit (Feature ) was dug; use of this surface is probably associated with the occupation of Architectural Block 2200.
Abandonment
Abandoned as a surface when refuse began to accumulate on it.
Postabandonment Process
Buried by aeolian and alluvial deposits.

Surface was not constructed

Surface was abandoned sometime after A.D. 1180; this inference is based on the association of Mesa Verde Black-on-white with the surface.
