General Location

South part of the site.

Specific Location

At the north edge of the roomblock in Architectural Block 2600.

Selection Criteria

This surface was encountered during excavations to expose the north wall of the adjacent roomblock.

Use

Outdoor use surface associated with Feature 1 (firepit). Surface could have been associated with the adjacent roomblock, or could predate it.

Abandonment

Surface was abandoned when Nonstructure 2604 formed above it.

Postabandonment Process

Covered naturally deposited sediment and wall fall.

Dating of Construction

Pueblo III White Painted pottery was found below this surface, indicating that the surface was constructed sometime after A.D. 1100; however, surface post-dates Structure 2607, and so post-dates 1150.

Dating of Abandonment

Pueblo III White Painted pottery was found beneath this surface. In addition, this surface post-dates Structure 2607, and so post-dates A.D. 1150.

Dating of Reuse

Nonstructure 2604 is a few centimeters above this surface and could have been essentially the same surface, or could be considered evidence of reuse.
