Surface was encountered during excavations to sample the midden in this architectural block.

Outdoor use surface associated with a pit feature (Feature 1); this surface is probably associated with Architectural Block 700 or possibly Architectural Block 600

Abandonment

Abandoned as a surface when it was covered by secondary refuse

Postabandonment Process

Covered initially by secondary refuse from occupation and then by aeolian and alluvial deposits

Dating of Construction

Surface was not constructed.

Dating of Abandonment

Mesa Verde Black-on-white pottery was found in the 30-cm-thick stratum that rested on this surface, which suggests that the abandonment of the surface probably occurred sometime after A.D. 1180.
