Excavation procedure
Segment 1 was excavated with a trowel and spoon as a full cut. Two liters of sediment were collected as a floatation sample and the remaining fill was screened through1/8-inch mesh.
Portion excavated
Northern half of feature; south half is in the south profile wall.
Horizontal location
Southeastern portion of 1-x-3-m unit 748N 2196E.
Vertical location
Top is at 81.0 m and the bottom is at 80.76.
Construction
A round, basin-shaped pit was excavated into undisturbed native sediment (NST 110, SR-1). A vertical post was placed into the hole.
