Nonstructure 110, extramural surface

Features

Pit: not further specified (Feature 1) Top of page
General description
Feature 1 is a shallow, round pit dug into the prehistoric ground surface south of Structure 106. It may have been incorporated into an extramural work surface associated with Structure 106 and was possibly used for storage or processing activities. No evidence of burning was present.
Use history
Feature 1 may have been used for storage or processing activities associated with Structure 106. After it went out of use, it was filled with sediment via a mixture of natural and cultural processes.
Associated features
None.
Excavation procedure
The segment of Feature 1 extending inside the EU was excavated with a trowel in a full cut (a smaller segment had been dug first to assess stratigraphy, but only one stratum was present). A two-liter flotation sample (PL 1) and a pollen sample (PL 2) were collected from the fill; the rest was screened with 1/8" mesh. No artifacts were recovered.
Portion excavated
The segment of the pit extending into the 1-x1-m unit 1505N 1770E.
Horizontal location
Along the north wall of the 1-x1-m unit 1505N 1770E (and extending north out of that unit).
Vertical location
Surface 1.
Construction
