General description

An extramural fire pit constructed expediently; feature used for light, heat, and cooking.

Excavation procedure
This feature was not detected until the north profile wall was cleaned, therefore this feature was excavated with Stratum 3 Level 3 of Excavation Unit 416 (Provenience Designation 2145).
Portion excavated
Approximately 1/2 to 3/4 of the southern portion of the feature was excavated.
Horizontal location
In north profile wall of 1-x-2-m unit 489.4N 516.4E.
Vertical location
Top of feature is at Nonstructure 190 Surface 1 or 96.08 m.
Construction
A round, basin-shaped pit was excavated from Nonstructure 190 Surface 1 into Nonstructure 162 secondary refuse deposits. The pit was not prepared in any way. The feature was constructed expediently.
