About this Nonstructure
General Location
Lower west side; base of talus slope near canyon bottom. East-southeast of Nonstructure 1-N and west of Structure 3 (a tested kiva).
Specific Location
Lower half of 1-x-1-m 320N 482E (EU 7). Rests below Nonstructures 5.4-N and 5.5-N and above Nonstructures 5.7-N and 5.8-N.
Selection Criteria
Part of Nonstructure 5-N testing; see Nonstructure 5-N and associated EU for description and explanation of testing strategy.
Use
In situ refuse that could have originated from the kiva units north of this study unit, including a tested kiva, Structure 3, and the nearby towers resting on top of boulders.
Abandonment
Covered with constructional fill and secondary refuse.
Postabandonment Process
Not applicable.
Dating of Midden
Based on pottery data, this refuse was deposited during the Pueblo III period. Based on stratigraphic position, this deposit postdates a construction deposit (Nonstructure 5.7-N) and a midden deposit (Nonstructure 5.8-N) and predates a construction deposit (Nonstructure 5.5-N) and a midden deposit (Nonstructure 5.4-N).
