Excavation Details for Excavation Units
In order by excavation unit number.
Excavation Unit
45
Location
Segment 3 N E.
(1-x-1-m)
Adjacent to and west of main drainage.
West of original boundaries of Nonstructure 7 approximately four meters south of the bench on which structures, including Structure 8, were built; southwest of Structure 8.
Selection Criteria
Judgmental. Selected in hopes of increasing the sample of artifacts from secondary refuse contexts in Nonstructre 7; refuse found in this unit could be associated with any of the structures on the bench, not just Structure 8.
Excavation Strategy
Strata subdivided into arbitrary levels.
Unit Ends at
Undisturbed native sediment. Excavation ended just below the top of sterile soil in most of the unit; auger testing encountered what is believed to be a layer decayed bedrock, followed by solid bedrock.
