Selection Criteria

2-x-2-m unit judgmentally placed to test an electrical resistance anomaly identified by the 2001 survey.

Use

Secondary refuse deposited by nearby residents into the depression of Structure 1037 during the Late Pueblo II period.

Abandonment

Pottery data indicates that refuse was not deposited after the Late Pueblo II period.

Postabandonment Process

Natural sediments accumulated above the midden deposits.

Dating of Midden

Secondary refuse was deposited into the depression of Structure 1037 by nearby residents during the Late Pueblo II period.

Architectural Block 1000; approximately 20 m northeast of Structure 903.

Selection Criteria

Judgmental. 2-x-2-m unit placed to test an anomaly identified by the electrical resistance survey in 2001.

Excavation Strategy

Strata subdivided into arbitrary levels. Excavated in 20 cm levels; continued through Nonstructure 1039 deposits.

Unit Ends at

Undisturbed native sediment. Portions of Surface 1, the structure floor, were preserved in the northwest corner of the structure; excavation ceased at Surface 1 when present. All other areas were excavated to undisturbed native sediment.
