Selection Criteria

2-x-2-m unit was judgmentally selected to test an anomaly identified by the electrical resistance survey in 2001.

Use

Secondary refuse was deposited by nearby residents during the Late Pueblo II period.

Abandonment

Pottery data indicates that refuse was not deposited after the Late Pueblo II, and possibly Early Pueblo III periods.

Postabandonment Process

Natural sediments accumulated above the midden deposits.

Dating of Midden

Secondary refuse was deposited in this area during the Late Pueblo II period.

Excavation Strategy

Strata subdivided into arbitrary levels. Excavated in 20 cm levels; excavation ceased when HRO-6 was encountered at an elevation of approximately 97.15 m.
