Along north wall of the original great house core; west-central portion of Architectural Block 100; below Arbitrary 122 deposits; 501.8N 487.2E.

Selection Criteria

1-x-2-m unit placed to expose masonry on the north wall of the great house.

Use

Nonstructure 123 refuse deposits were intentionally deposited in a uniform thickness in preparation for the construction of the north wall of the great house.

Abandonment

Refuse was no longer added to Nonstructure 123 deposits after the early A.D. 1100s.

Postabandonment Process

The north wall of the great house was constructed above these deposits in the early A.D. 1100s.

Dating of Midden

Nonstructure 123 refuse is most likely a construction deposit associated with the construction of the great house. Pottery from the refuse indicates that it was deposited in the early A.D. 1100s.

Excavation Strategy

Strata subdivided into arbitrary levels. Excavated in 10 cm levels. Secondary refuse deposits (Nonstructure 123) were encountered at approximately 98.09 m.
