Selection Criteria
1-x-2-m unit judgmentally placed to test a masonry surface room, Structure 144.
Use
Nonstructure 159 refuse was deposited in the depression of Structure 176 in the Late Pueblo II period. Nonstructure 159 has a 4:1 Mancos Black-on-white to McElmo Black-on-white pottery ratio. A tree-ring sample was collected from the fill and dated to A.D. 1192vv; it seems likely that this piece of wood is intrusive to Nonstructure 159 and was brought into this deposit through rodent disturbance.
Abandonment
Nonstructure 159 refuse was no longer deposited after the Late Pueblo II period.
Postabandonment Process
Nonstructure 189 refuse covered Nonstructure 159 in the Early Pueblo III period.
Dating of Midden
Nonstructure 159 was deposited in the Late Pueblo II period.
