Southwestern portion of Architectural Block 100; below Structure 195, Surface 1; 481.6N 497.6E.
Selection Criteria
1-x-2-m unit judgmentally placed to expose the exterior face of the south wall of Structure 195.
Use
Nonstructure 196 was most likely deposited in the Late Pueblo II or Early Pueblo III period. The majority of pottery collected from this deposit dates to the Pueblo II period, but a few sherds date to the Pueblo III period. Either the Pueblo III sherds are intrusive to this deposit, or Nonstructure 196 dates to the Early Pueblo III period.
Abandonment
Nonstructure 196 refuse was no longer deposited after the Early Pueblo III period.
Postabandonment Process
Structures 195 was constructed on Nonstructure 196 deposits.
Dating of Midden
Nonstructure 196 was deposited in the Early Pueblo III period.
