General Location
South-central portion of the site.
Specific Location
Southern portion of Architectural Block 300; south of Structures 302 and 303.
Selection Criteria
Fifteen 1-x-1-m units were randomly selected for excavation throughout Nonstructure 301 to sample midden deposits.
Use
Secondary refuse was deposited by nearby residents (Structures 302 and 303) during the Early Pueblo III period.
Abandonment
Pottery data indicates that refuse was not deposited after the Early Pueblo III period. There is a small quantity of Mesa Verde Black-on-white sherds.
Postabandonment Process
Natural sediments accumulated above the midden deposits.
Dating of Midden
Secondary refuse was deposited in this area during the Early Pueblo III period.
