Nonstructure 102, midden
About this Nonstructure
General Location
West central portion of the site.
Specific Location
Nonstructure 102 is in the western portion of Structure 110's midden.
Selection Criteria
Nonstructure 102 was used to document midden deposits affected by modern chaining and burning activities.
Use
Nonstructure 102 is a deflated midden deposit affected by chaining and burning activities. The sediments of Nonstructure 102 have eroded away, but the artifacts remained in post-occupational deposits.
Abandonment
Nonstructure 102 was no longer used after Structure 110 was decommissioned.
Postabandonment Process
Nonstructure 102 was deposited through natural processes (wind and water), chaining, and burning activities.

Excavation Details for Excavation Units
In order by excavation unit number.
Excavation Unit
8
Location
1-x-1 meter grid unit 1418N 201E.
Southwest quarter of the site.
Located near the west border of the midden (Nonstructure 102), approximately 17 m southwest of Structure 110.
Selection Criteria
Random. Eighteenth 1-x1-m unit selected for excavation in Nonstructure 101. Note that the Study Unit for this Excavation Unit was later changed to Nonstructure 102 due to the presence of modern chaining disturbance.
Excavation Strategy
Natural strata.
Unit Ends at
Undisturbed native sediment. Excavation was terminated at approximately 110.63 m. A 20 cm x 20 cm window was dug into the northeast corner of the unit to confirm sterility; the bottom of this window was at an elevation of 110.53 m.

Excavation Unit
9
Location
1-x-1 meter grid unit 1416N 207E.
Southwest quarter of the site.
Located just west of the center of the midden (Nonstructure 102), approximately 16 m south of Structure 110.
Selection Criteria
Random. Eleventh 1-x1-m unit selected for excavation in Nonstructure 101. Note that the Study Unit for this Excavation Unit was later changed to Nonstructure 102 due to the presence of modern chaining disturbance.
Excavation Strategy
Strata subdivided into arbitrary levels. Stratum 2 was divided into two levels (Level 1 was terminated arbitrarily at a depth of 10 cm).
Unit Ends at
Undisturbed native sediment. Excavation was terminated at approximately 110.17 m. A 20 cm x 20 cm window was dug into the southwest corner of the unit to confirm sterility; the bottom of this window was at an elevation of 110.10 m.

Location
1-x-1 meter grid unit 1420N 206E.
Southwest quarter of the site.
Located in the northwest portion of the midden (Nonstructure 102), approximately 12 m south of Structure 110.
Selection Criteria
Random. Twenty-second 1-x1-m unit selected for excavation in Nonstructure 101. Note that the Study Unit for this Excavation Unit was later changed to Nonstructure 102 due to the presence of modern chaining disturbance.
Excavation Strategy
Natural strata.
Unit Ends at
Undisturbed native sediment. Excavation was terminated at approximately 110.33 m. A 10 cm x 10 cm window was dug into the southeast corner of the unit to confirm sterility; the bottom of this window was at an elevation of 110.26 m.
