General Location

Central portion of site.

Specific Location

Central portion of Block 200. Southeast of Structure 225.

Selection Criteria

Two 2-x-2-m units placed south of Structure 225 to sample associated midden deposits; the south unit (EU 305; 510N 565E) exposed a small portion of Nonstructure 239, but it was detected in profile only; in north unit (EU 247; 512N 565E), Nonstructure 239 and a portion of a pit feature (Nonstructure 247, Feature 1) were excavated.

Use

Secondary refuse was discarded into this area by residents from a nearby roomblock during the late Pueblo II period.

Abandonment

Secondary refuse was no longer discarded in this area after the late Pueblo II period.

Postabandonment Process

Natural sediments accumulated above the refuse; the upper portions were disturbed by plowing.

Dating of Midden

Based on pottery data, secondary refuse was discarded during the late Pueblo II period.
