To sample undisturbed midden associated with this architectural block.

Area was used for the deposition of refuse, probably by the residents of the adjacent roomblock.

Postabandonment Process

Midden does not appear to have been affected by the 1931 Western State College field school excavations.

Dating of Midden

A few Pueblo II sherds are present, but most are Pueblo III types. Presence of Mesa Verde Black-on-white sherds indicates that this refuse was deposited sometime after A.D. 1180.
