Nonstructure 1227, extramural surface

About this Nonstructure

General Location

Near the northeast corner of the great tower complex.

Specific Location

20 m east-northeast of Structure 1210.

Selection Criteria

Surface was encountered during excavations to expose architecture associated with the water-control features at the great tower complex.

Use

Type of use of this surface was not clear from the small amount of surface exposed, but was at least used as a foundation for one masonry wall of unknown function, or perhaps an entire structure. Use of this structure and surface was probably related to the drainage adjacent to the west.

Abandonment

Abandoned as a result of roomblock abandonment.

Postabandonment Process

Surface was buried by stones that collapsed off of the wall (Feature 1) and by sediment that was naturally deposited.
