Talus slope at south end of the site.

In Architectural Block 3300 at the bottom of the talus slope.

To sample midden associated with this roomblock.

Use

This area was used for the deposition of refuse, probably by the residents of the roomblock nearby.

Abandonment

Abandoned when occupation of this area ended.

Postabandonment Process

Midden was covered with alluvial sediments and mixed by livestock trampling.

Dating of Midden

This 40-cm-thick midden contains Mesa Verde Black-on-white sherds in the upper half of this continuously-used midden indicates that refuse was being deposited here until sometime after A.D. 1180. The high proportion of late design elements on decorated pottery sherds indicates deposition during the Pueblo III period (A.D. 1150-1300).
