This area was used for the deposition of refuse, probably by the residents of the nearby roomblock.

Abandoned when occupation of this area ended.

Postabandonment Process

Midden was covered with naturally deposited sediments.

Dating of Midden

This 25-cm-thick stratum of refuse contains Mesa Verde Black-on-white sherds; the high proportion of late-design elements on decorated sherds indicates that this refuse was deposited during the Pueblo III period (A.D. 1150-1300).
