Use

This area was used for the deposition of refuse, probably by the residents of the nearby roomblock; some refuse could predate this roomblock.

Abandonment

Abandoned when occupation of this area ended.

Postabandonment Process

Upper half of deposits were mixed by recent looting activities.

Dating of Midden

The upper half of this 70-cm-thick midden was churned by recent looting; the lower half was undisturbed. The presence of Mesa Verde Black-on-white sherds in the lower, undisturbed stratum indicates that much or all of the refuse was deposited sometime after A.D. 1180.
