General Location

Block 100, north end of site, just west of drainage.

Specific Location

East "wing" of Block 100. Segment 2 was located south of the Structure 108 enclosing wall. The location of Segment 1 was not recorded, but it possibly was located east of the Structure 108 enclosing wall.

Selection Criteria

Use

Appears to have been used for the disposal of domestic refuse, although the tested portion of this midden contained a fairly modest number of artifacts.

Abandonment

Abandoned as a result of abandonment of the kiva suite.

Postabandonment Process

Construction debris was deposited on the refuse, then wall collapse material and sediment was deposited naturally on top of the construction debris.

Dating of Midden

Use of this area as a midden probably coincided with the occupation of the adjacent structures, the construction of most of which were tree-ring dated to A.D. 1271 or 1274 or later.
