Site Composition and Layout
Albert Porter Pueblo is a prehispanic village site located in the central Mesa Verde region. The types of pottery found on the modern ground surface suggest that people were living on the site at least as early as the Basketmaker III period (A.D. 500-750). The most intensive occupation however, dates from the Pueblo II (A.D. 900ヨ1150) and the Pueblo III (A.D. 1150ヨ1300) periods. Evidence for occupation during these periods is characterized by the presence of rubble mounds, surface rooms, and pitstructures. Architectural and artifact evidence, including 11 distinct architectural blocks and the remains of a early A.D. 1100s great house, indicate that the site reached its maximum extent sometime between A.D. 1100 and 1250.
