PD Data

510  , Whole study unit  , Stratum 1

Fill/Assemblage Position

fill: wall fall

Fill/Assemblage Type

collapsed structure: not further specified

Description

Below PD 508 of Arbitrary Unit 1015. Uppermost PD assigned to Structure 1004. Consists of sandstone blocks in silt. Wall fall.

530  , Whole study unit  , Stratum 2

Fill/Assemblage Position

fill: roof fall

Fill/Assemblage Type

collapsed structure: not further specified

Description

Below PD 510. Primarily burned sediment, stones, and charred logs; some charred closing material present as well. Signs of burning were most intense around the edges of the structure; almost no burned beams were found in the center. Roof fall.

788  , Whole study unit  , Stratum 3

Fill/Assemblage Position

fill: below roof fall

Fill/Assemblage Type

indeterminate: fill/assemblage type cannot be determined

Description

Below PD 530. Multiple strata combined into one PD: (1) building blocks in tan silt; (2) laminated silts, sands, and clays in center of structure, toward base of stratum; (3) pieces of rotted wood, shakes in northeast quadrant. Wind- and water-deposited sediment, plus collapsed structural materials. Unclear whether building blocks are from collapsed structure or were intentionally thrown in. The burning of the overlying stratum (roof fall, PD 530) resulted in some charring of the plane of contact with this stratum.

790  , Whole study unit  , Surface 1 (contact only)

Fill/Assemblage Position

surface contact: ephemeral or reuse surface in fill

Fill/Assemblage Type

cultural deposit: not further specified

Description

Below PD 788. Defined in east half of structure only.

800  , Whole study unit  , Stratum 4

Fill/Assemblage Position

fill: below roof fall

Fill/Assemblage Type

collapsed structure: other

Description

Below PD 788 against base of lower lining wall in west half of structure; below PD 790 against base of lower lining wall in east half of structure; thins to the point of vanishing in the center of the structure. Gray, organic, "loamy" sediment (1 to 2 cm thick) over a layer of sloughed-off wall plaster. "Wall fall"--mostly plaster from the lower lining wall--that accumulated around the edge of the kiva floor. NOTE: When searching the paper records for information, see PD 791.

792  , Whole study unit  , Surface 2 (contact and 5 cm above)

Fill/Assemblage Position

surface contact: and fill above

Fill/Assemblage Type

cultural deposit: mixed refuse

Description

Below PD 800 around the edges of the structure (at the base of the lower lining wall); below PD 788 in the center of the structure. Fill/Asemblage Type (FAT) code indicates mixed primary and de facto refuse.

862  , Whole study unit  , Stratum 5

Fill/Assemblage Position

fill: below a cultural surface

Fill/Assemblage Type

construction deposit: rubble fill

Description

Below PD 792. Chunky sandstone rubble mixed with yellow sand, yellow clay, brown loamy silt, and occasional lumps of gray clay. Construction fill.

912  , Whole study unit  , Surface 3 (contact only)

Fill/Assemblage Position

sterile: undisturbed sediment or geologic deposit

Fill/Assemblage Type

not applicable: fill/assemblage type is not applicable

Description

Below PD 862.

911  , Full cut

Fill/Assemblage Position

architectural deposit: construction

Fill/Assemblage Type

construction deposit: not further specified

Description

Not part of regular PD sequence. PD assigned to lower lining wall to allow documentation of the plaster on a portion of the wall. There were three layers of plaster. Beginning with the first applied and ending with the last, the three layers consisted of the following: (1) a thick layer of brown silty plaster; (2) a layer of brown silty plaster coated with a light buff material, which in turn was "painted" with a red pink pigment; and (3) a layer of brown silty material without any coating.
