Earlier this month, we welcomed our new postdoctoral scholar, Dr. Jonathan Dombrosky! Jon recently received his Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico, where he specialized in the analysis of faunal remains.
Beginning as a Crow Canyon intern, Jon has a long history of working with us! We are grateful to have seen his research interests develop as a Crow Canyon as an employee, and most recently as a scholar-educator-archaeologist in our College Field School program.
Jon will serve as the Postdoctoral Scholar in Fauna Analyses for the Northern Chaco Outliers Project. The primary focus of his position is to analyze the animal bones with a focus on the Haynie site. A fundamental goal of our postdoctoral positions is to provide opportunities and experiences that advance scholarly careers.
His research will help us to better understand the human/environment relationships in the Lakeview community and beyond. Under the guidance of Executive Vice President of the Research Institute, Dr. Mark Varien, and Laboratory Director, Dr. Ben Bellorado, Jon is expected to publish the results of his research by writing professional reports and papers.
