Laura Hartman currently works at Tres Rios Field Office as a Physical Scientist with responsibilities in the oil and gas and abandoned mine lands programs. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Geoscience from Pennsylvania State University in May 2016 and Master’s degree in Quaternary and Climate Science from the University of Maine in December 2018. Since graduating, she has worked various internships and seasonal positions throughout the western United States, including Idaho, Oregon, Nevada, and Utah, before landing in SW Colorado in November 2019. Although her heart lies with volcanic systems, the geology of the Colorado Plateau, which Canyons of the Ancients National Monument is situated on, has its own narrative of unique geology which captures the imagination.
