Lower west side; base of talus slope near canyon bottom.
Specific Location
Upper half of Segment 9 (EU 40); in Nonstructure 1.1-N and above Nonstructures 1.21-N and 1.22-N.
Selection Criteria
Part of Nonstructure 1-N testing; see Nonstructure 1-N and associated EU for description and explanation of testing strategy.
Use
Ephermal surface in fill that was used for the construction of a wall (Feature 7) and possibly a pit feature (Feature 9).
Abandonment
Covered by fill that includes naturally redeposited secondary refuse.

Dating of Construction
No pottery or tree-ring data. The stratigraphic position suggests that this surface postdates two earlier extramural surfaces (Nonstructures 1.21-N and 1.22-N).
