Lower west side; base of talus slope near canyon bottom.
Specific Location
Base of Segment 9 (EU 40); below Nonstructures 1.20-N, 1.21-N, and 1.22-N.

Part of Nonstructure 1-N testing; see Nonstructure 1-N and associated EU for description and explanation of testing strategy.
Use
This outdoor surface was used for the construction of a wall (Feature 8).

Covered by fill that contains secondary refuse.

Dating of Construction
No tree-ring or pottery data. Surface was used early in the occupation of this area (two extramural surfaces, Nonstructures 1.22-N and 1.21-N, rest above the surface and thus postdate it).

Abandoned before the the canyon bottom was abandoned -- this is one of the earliest surfaces in this area.
