Nonstructure 1.22-N, extramural surface

Features

Wall: other (Feature 8) Top of page
General description
Rough alignment of large stones.
Use history
Possible retaining wall to stop downslope erosion and promote the accumulation of sediments; if this is a feature, it was one of the first features constructed during the occupation of the site because thick secondary refuse deposits rests above it.
Associated features
Similar to other low walls and stone alignments in Nst 1 (F-2, F-3, F-5, F-7, F-10, F-11 and F-12) and Nst 4 (F-1 and F-3).
Excavation procedure
Exposed and documented.
Portion excavated
Portion in excavation unit.
Horizontal location
North two-thirds of Segment 9; runs east-northeast/west-southwest.
Vertical location
Surface 11, which is located at the base of Stratum C on Map 206 and the base of Stratum 2 in the PD record and is probably a natural surface.
Construction
Large stones appear to be set in a rough alignment; it is possible this is not a cultural feature and that it is a fortuitous alignment of stones.
