General Location
Lower west side; base of talus slope near canyon bottom.
Specific Location
Upper half of Segment 3 (EU 34); rests in Nonstructure 1.1-N and above Nonstructure 1.7-N.
Selection Criteria
Part of Nonstructure 1-N testing; see Nonstructure 1-N and associated EU for description and explanation of testing strategy.
Use
Ephermal surface in fill that is associated with the construction of a wall (Feature 2).
Abandonment
Probably abandoned as part of the abandonment of the canyon bottom.
Postabandonment Process
Covered by postoccupational natural deposits that contain redeposited secondary refuse.
Dating of Construction
No artifacts or tree-ring dates. Based on stratigraphic position, this surface postdates an earlier cultural deposit (Nonstructure 1.7-N).
Dating of Remodeling
Not applicable.
Dating of Abandonment
Probably abandoned close to the time the canyon bottom was abandoned--it is one of the latest surfaces in this area.
