Selection Criteria

Fourth randomly selected 1-x-1-m unit in Architectural Block 500.

Use

Extramural surface composed of undisturbed native sediment from which a pit feature (Feature 1) was excavated.

Abandonment

This surface was no longer used in the Early Pueblo III period when secondary refuse (Nonstructure 501) was deposited above Nonstructure 504.

Postabandonment Process

Secondary refuse (Nonstructure 501) was deposited above Nonstructure 504. Natural wind and water sediments covered Nonstructure 501 deposits.

Dating of Construction

Based on construction dates for surrounding architecture in Architectural Block 500 and on the midden deposits that covered this surface, it is inferred that Nonstructure 504 dates from the Pueblo III period.

Not applicable.

Dating of Abandonment

This surface was no longer used in the Early Pueblo III period when secondary refuse (Nonstructure 501) was deposited above Nonstructure 504.
