General description
Small pit feature.
Use history
Purpose of pit is unknown; it was constructed late in the occupation of the pueblo; multiple cultural deposits rest below it.
Associated features
F-6 is a pit feature in Segment 1 that was found at approximately the same elevation as this pit; both pits may be associated with the rock alignments that are part of Nst 1 and are visible on modern ground surface; these pits may also be associated with two pits in Seg. 9 (F-4 and F-9).
Excavation procedure
Feature was bisected in half; south half excavated separately from north half.
Horizontal location
Center of Segment 1.
Vertical location
Detected within Stratum 2; believed to have extended to top of Stratum 2 or Stratum B on Map 199, which is Surface 3.
Construction
Small pit was dug into a yellow-gray brown clay loam that is interpreted as constructional fill (Stratum 2).

Use history
Possible posthole; built late in the history of site occupation as the feature was excavated into a stratum high in the fill sequence of Segment 1.
Associated features
F-1 is another pit feature in Segment 1 that was found at a similar elevation as this feature; these pits may be associated with the rock alignments that are part of Nst 1 and visible on modern ground surface; these pits may also be associated with two pits in Seg. 9 (F-4 and F-9).
Excavation procedure
Not recognized in plan view but preserved in west profile of Segment 1.
Portion excavated
Not excavated; recorded what was preserved in west profile of Segment 1.
Horizontal location
West end of Segment 1; extends west of excavation unit.
Vertical location
Originates from Surface 3, which is the top of Stratum B on Map 199 and Stratum 2 in the PD record.
Construction
Pit excavated into fill (see Strata B and C on Map 199).
