Nonstructure 8-N, extramural surface

Features

Wall: other (Feature 1) Top of page
General description
Coursed masonry enclosing wall.
Use history
Function of wall is not known, perhaps it defined living space associated with Structure 302. Fill beneath the north half of wall is probably material that was excavated during the construction of Structure 302, and may have served to create a more level use surface. That the north half of the feature rests on redeposited material leads to the inference that the wall was probably constructed after Structure 302 was built.
Associated features
None.
Excavation procedure
Not excavated--grid west edge of wall exposed during clearing of Nonstructure 8 (courtyard).
Portion excavated
Only the grid west edge of the wall was within the 5 x 3 excavation unit.
