Natural, undisturbed surface; defined as the plane of contact between the midden deposit and underlying sterile sediment/bedrock.

Not constructed. Natural, undisturbed surface on which trash was deposited. Consisted of compact (hard) sandy loam, devoid of any cultural or organic material. Bedrock outcrops in the center and southeast corner of the excavated area (excavated area confined to within Structure 512 walls).
