Archaeology Webinars - Crow Canyon Archaeological Center

Crow Canyon Webinar Series

Grounded in place. Connected worldwide.

Join us every other Thursday at 4:00 p.m.

Colorado operates on Mountain Time and recognizes Daylight Savings

The Crow Canyon Webinar Series was launched in 2020 by our late friend and colleague, Tayler Hasbrouck, making continuing education accessible to people around the world. Each webinar centers voices that deepen our collective understanding of the past, present, and future—not only through archaeological research, but through lived experience, cultural knowledge, and the priorities of descendant communities.

In alignment with Crow Canyon’s commitment to responsible practice, the series highlights collaborative approaches, Indigenous perspectives, and knowledge-holders whose insights guide how we learn from and care for ancestral places.

Glen Canyon Rising

Journey through the dramatically etched and colorful landscape of Glen Canyon, exploring its complex life cycle as a defining geological feature of the Colorado Plateau and its deep history as a homeland of Indigenous people.

This original short film, featuring Hopi archaeologist Lyle Balenquah and author Craig Childs, offers a powerful visual and narrative experience that reveals the layers of human history embedded in the landscape. As water levels fall, generations of cultural footprints are revealed, and dormant ecological systems begin to stir once more.

Through sweeping visuals, thoughtful commentary, and a live discussion with Lyle and Craig, Crow Canyon invites you to consider the enduring resilience of Indigenous people and the heart of a landscape that beats beneath the surface of a reservoir.
